Once upon a time there was the classic white ceiling surrounded by walls of a "full and flat" color that served as a background for furniture and accessories.
The new trend in décor today sees the fifth wall as the protagonist to play with using strong colors and wallpapers, thus creating unprecedented effects. An idea to be copied both in period homes and in modern homes.
More than a novelty, it is a return to the limelight, from the moment in which the noble houses of the 1800s were frescoed. But how to make this form of decoration modern?
An option within everyone's reach is that of a solid color. The only difficulty is the ability to combine colors thinking from an overall perspective, that is, including fabrics, furnishings and wallpaper.
WARM COLOR VS WALLPAPER
If you are looking for inspiration, here are our suggestions: aim for a neutral and soft color on the walls and give character to the room by choosing a warm and bright color for the ceiling. If you have rosettes, stucco, or moldings, paint those too. The touch of style is to install a lampshade that has the same shade to give a sense of "expansion".
If you like wallpaper, opt for the pattern that best suits your style for the walls and choose a color inside to spread it on the ceiling. Both a cold and a warm shade will work to get the surprise effect you want.
If, on the other hand, you want something more extroverted and complex, you can always turn to decorators who can create a true work of art that makes the ceiling and wall one, interpreting today's most desired mood, namely nature.
But here are four tips to take into account if you want this type of style for your home:
- Choose small entrances, corridors or bathrooms because this process visually "lowers" the room and at the same time makes it wider.
- To get the most out of it, go down with the color towards the wall with a different “band” effect color able to give an enveloping sensation throughout the room.
- Don't be afraid to dare. For example, color a room in the same way, from ceiling to floor, it will look like a niche isolated from the rest of the house.
- Make the classic style more modern by painting the ceilings with stucco to make the decorations stand out.
